except，英语单词，主要用作连词、介词、动词，作连词时意思是“只是；除非；除……之外；要不是由于”，作介词时意思是“除……之外”穗埋，作动词时意思是“不计，把……除外；反对”。

值得一提的是，而except本身具有两种不同的词性，除了可以当「介系词」，也可以当「连接词」。
except作为连接词
except能当连接链滚兄词使用，后面常用that连接一个「完整的句子备指」，而that常被省略。例如

2、The twin sisters look alike,except(that)Gina is a little shorter than Abby.
